Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated High School History/Economics Teacher to join our faculty for the 2025-26 academic year. This role involves teaching four sections of history/economics and serving as an advisor to a small group of students. Faculty members are expected to foster intellectual growth, moral character, and responsible citizenship, all while maintaining a vibrant and engaging classroom environment.
Courses taught in the history department include:
20th Century World History
History of the Modern World
U.S. History
AP U.S. History
AP Economics
Civics
AP U.S. Government
AP Comparative Government
Various history and economics electives
The ability to teach multiple course levels is expected, and candidates with experience or interest in AP Economics are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate instruction in history and economics.
Create a classroom environment that inspires enthusiasm for the subject.
Serve as an advisor, supporting students' academic and personal growth.
Communicate regularly with students, families, and colleagues to ensure student success.
Participate actively in school culture, including supervision duties, extracurricular activities, and special programs such as Winterim and Experiential Education Week.
Lead or support student activities such as coaching, club advising, or mentorship.
Collaborate with the Student Support Team to meet diverse student needs.
Attend faculty meetings, admissions events, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
Bachelor's degree in history, economics, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Experience teaching high school history, including world and U.S. history.
Passion for working with adolescents and fostering their academic and personal growth.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Commitment to experiential education and student-centered learning.
Ability to create discussion-based and project-based learning experiences.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn educational technology tools such as Google Suite for Education and Zoom.
Preferred:
Experience teaching AP Economics.
Background in project-based learning (PBL).
Experience with Mac-based technology in an educational setting.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000 (based on qualifications and experience)
